The 'Ring Road'
Pune, the second largest city in Maharashtra and the eighth largest metro will benefit from the much awaited ring road that will greatly help in decongesting the traffic in PMC and PCMC areas.
A single word that describes Pune’s ring road perfectly is – “Swanky”! The length of this magnificent six lane route, with 2 service lanes on either side would be 162 kms. What’s more – the ring road comprises of 12 flyovers, 7 bridges built over valleys, a total of 14 subways and almost 13 tunnels!! Thanks to the end of election code of conduct, the MSRDC will soon issue a global tender for Detailed Project Report (DPR).
Pune, once known as the “city for pensioners” and “vidyeche maherghar” (abode of learning) witnessed a boom in the IT, Automobile, the manufacturing and services sectors in the past two decades. There is always a flip side to prosperity of a city and Pune – which was once known as “the city of bicycles”, witnessed a meteoric rise in its vehicular traffic that resulted in traffic congestion within the Municipal as well as peripheral localities of PMC and PCMC.
It is a known fact that, the epicenter of traffic woes encountered by Puneites is the vehicular traffic from Mumbai, Solapur, Nashik, Satara and other parts of the state that passes through the city. Thanks to the Pune ring road, this traffic will now be diverted from the periphery of the city through a road network that will automatically decongest the core municipal areas!
The new ring road has proved to be a shot in the arm for many real estate Companies. The Saarrthi group, true to its “vision statement” was one of the earliest to have sensed the importance of launching a luxurious project by the name “Saarrthi Suburbia” near Wagholi gaon, off Pune-Ahmednagar road. The easy accessibility of ring road from Saarrthi Suburbia will ensure a flawless connectivity to the core areas of PMC and PCMC. The project is surrounded with scores of schools, colleges, hospitals and all amenities needed for a urban living – albeit, away from the hustle and bustle of urban life!
